- Is an emerging presence among literary journals (already receiving up to 12,000 page views per month with hundreds of submissions per week)--great exposure for our writers!
- Is seriously literary sans the pretention
- Publishes short fiction (3500 words or less)
- Publishes flash fiction (1000 words or less)
- Publishes poetry and haiku
- Accepts submissions year round on a rolling basis (we often publish daily but currently feature a quarterly issue)
- Plans to distribute a digital edition of the journal (e.g., PDF via email list) on a rolling basis for more author exposure
- Provides honest, detailed feedback on work submitted for consideration
- Responds to all submissions (typically, within 30 days for non-expedited submissions)
- Publicizes the work of its writers via social media and other platforms, such as the forthcoming Whisky Blot Literary Podcast
- Promotes literary diversity and, as such, solicits the work of all artists everywhere who seek to make the world a better place through the written word
- Seeks to provide scholarship opportunities and funding for emerging writers
- Is not currently a paying market (with the exception of profit sharing on any print volumes in which our writers may appear in the future and small, token payments for exceptional work) but this is subject to change in the future as we grow
- Will nominate the best of our writers for Pushcart and other literary and poetry awards annually

FAQs
Why "The Whisky Blot"?

For one, we love whisky. Particularly Scotch (most especially Islay single malts) and Japanese whisky. Though based in The United States, thus the choice of the spelling whisky over whiskey. Whisky (alcohol more generally) is closely bound up in the writer's tradition, whether for good or ill. We embrace it and like to spend our evenings reading your literary work while sipping a nice dram.
